Minimally Invasive Dental Implants
Greater patient comfort. More precise implant placement. Shortened healing time.
Minimally Invasive Dental Implants, or MIDI℠, are the wave of the future in dental implantology and at Amsterdam Dental Group, the future is now. Our four dual trained specialists are leading the field in utilization of this revolutionary means of placing dental implants.
But what exactly is behind this cutting-edge technique? What does it mean for patients?
When LESS is MORE
- Less Time
Computerized pre-planning inherently leads to patients spending far less time in the dental chair. The minimally invasive nature of the procedure combined with computer-guided precision of the implant placement itself also results in shortened post-operative care. Patients generally return to their daily routine that same day.
- Less Pain and Discomfort
MIDI℠ pre-treatment, computer guided planning helps avoid steps that previously led to a more traumatic type of healing. Less manipulation of gum tissue and bone exposure leads to reduced surgery time and often no sutures at all. The reduced pain also lessens the need for potent prescription opioid medications.
- Less Anxiety
Not only is it a dental visit; it’s dental surgery. Knowing we are able to virtually replicate one’s full dental structure on a computer, anticipate any possible issues and plot a meticulous step-by-step course based on the specific case provides greater patient peace of mind.
- Less Health Impacts
MIDI℠ helps our doctors maintain as much healthy tissue as possible which can improve aesthetics and dental health overall. The technique has few contraindications and adults of all ages with varied health conditions benefit from the minimally invasive procedure.
- Better Results
Restorations are all about the most finite details. A successful, aesthetic result requires teamwork between the dental surgeon and restorative dentist, leading to a greater understanding of how implant placement and restoration influence each other. A dual trained dental specialist is uniquely qualified to provide the best possible result.
THE FUTURE IS NOW
Technology & Technique
Sophisticated technology and training is necessary to perform the MIDI℠ technique.
- Virtual Recreation
3-D x-rays and scanners virtually recreate a patient’s mouth and jaw – precisely seeing the height, width and length of bone available for implant placement and the important surrounding gum tissue.
- Surgical Planning
Special implant planning software takes the virtual recreated data and precisely plans the entire dental implant procedure before it is performed in the patient’s mouth. The advantage is that all of the surgical decisions are planned and reviewed digitally in advance of the procedure.
- 3-D Printed Guides
Whether for replacing one tooth or a complete dentition, a 3-D printed surgical guide is the basis for MIDI℠’s precision and comfort. It is dentistry’s current answer to medicine’s robotic surgery, offering a more controlled implant procedure, greater patient comfort and superior results.
Dual Trained Technique
MIDI℠ requires a dental surgeon to place implants accurately and restorative dentist to reconstruct implants esthetically and functionally. A specialist trained in both periodontics and prosthodontics has a greater understanding of how implant placement and restoration influence each other.
The accuracy and precision of dental implant placement is paramount to the achievement of an aesthetic result. At Amsterdam Dental Group, there is no need to outsource any part of the implant and restoration process. From the state-of-the-art CT scanner and computer-guided surgical planning software to the full dental laboratory in office, MIDI℠ in the hands of our Amsterdam Dental Group team is all about LESS is MORE.
